`High School Musical' makes grade with $42M debut

"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" debuted as a box-office valedictorian, taking in $42 million — a record opening for a musical.

The horror sequel "Saw V" was a solid No. 2, pulling in $30.1 million in its first weekend.
